Thiago Monteiro, Head of Mobile, Treatwell
Working in Digital Marketing for more than six years, Thiago has a vast experience in multi disciplines of paid media ranging from Display to Social Paid advertising. For the past two years, Thiago has led the Mobile Marketing team at Treatwell, which solely focuses on growing the customer base of the Treatwell app, which has been called “like Uber of the beauty world” by Metro. This growth entails increasing the number of downloads, whilst ensuring that activation from new customers remains at least 15%. As the Head of Mobile, Thiago has faced the challenge of entering new markets across seven European countries to deliver an integrated online and offline strategy whilst maintaining the BAU performance of the traditional paid channels delivering a strong ROI for the app.
Carl Whalley, Software Development Manager, OTAMate Technology Ltd
Carl Whalley is from OTAMate Technology Ltd, a mobile software and services company formed in 2004 with offices in Blackburn in the North West of the UK. Carl has been working with smartphone software quite literally from the start, when he worked with Ericsson on the worlds first smartphone, the R380 in 2001. Since then he went on with OTAMate to work with clients such as the BBC, Amazon, Rentokil Initial, Jaguar Land Rover and Vodafone as well as a range of diverse businesses requiring expertise in the mobile space. Carl is well known to Linked In members as the creator and owner of the largest Android group there, "Google Android", with 172k+ members. Recently Carl has been working on media projects in the Android field, and always gets a laugh when someone quotes back something said about him in the early days of Android - "if you cut that guy, he bleeds #a4c639"! (thats geek for "Android Green") !
Jeremy Basset, Head of Unilver Foundry, Unilever
As founder and Head of Unilever Foundry, Jeremy is responsible for helping to shape Unilever’s Marketing and innovation strategy through collaboration. Unilever Foundry is the company’s platform to engage with startups and innovative companies who can help Unilever pioneer the future.
Through Unilever Foundry, Unilever brands and functions publicise their challenges online (http://foundry.unilever.com/challenges/), and innovators then pitch to pilot with Unilever. This pitch-pilot-partner process puts collaborative innovation at the heart of Unilever, enabling the organisation to pioneer, experiment and scale new technologies. Since Jeremy launched Unilever Foundry in 2014, over 75 pilots have been launched with startups around the world, putting startups at the heart of Unilever’s innovation process.
Prior to his current role, Jeremy was Global Director in Unilever’s New Businesses Unit where he was responsible for leveraging Unilever’s brands and IP to develop new ventures. This included developing new technologies, business models and partnerships which stretched Unilever beyond the company’s core capabilities. During Jeremy’s 12 years at Unilever, he has lived and worked in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore & the UK. Jeremy has a marketing and commercial background, with a degree in Accounting & Marketing, he’s CPA qualified and has an MBA from London Business School.
John, Director of Mobile, TUI Group
John is Director of Mobile at TUI Group, one of the world’s largest leisure travel groups, and responsible for defining the mobile experience for TUI’s 16 million customers. John has been with TUI for 13 years, initially heading up product development for First choice Holidays. Since then he has since spent time in a range of TUI’s specialist businesses as Commercial Director for adventure operator Exodus Travels, and then as Managing Director of gap year operators Real Gap and i-2-i. In 2011, john re-joined the core TUI tour operating business as Director of Ancillaries & Commercial, before taking on the role of leading mobile for the Group in 2014.
David Low, Lead Developer, SkyScanner
David Low created and now leads the Developer Advocacy program at Skyscanner, the world’s travel search engine. In his role, David looks after external developer relations, working to grow the evangelist developer community around Skyscanner and the Skyscanner API. David began with Skyscanner three years ago managing the company’s mobile products. Prior to his Skyscanner life, David managed digital production at RBS and led product development at STV.
Nick Thomas, Practice Leader Digital Media, Ovum - TMT Intelligence
Nick Thomas is Practice Leader for Digital Media at Ovum, with a focus on the evolution of digital content and services worldwide. He covers the evolving digital media landscape as companies seek to monetize their content across multiple platforms and devices. Nick is a frequent speaker and chair at international conferences, as well as a regular press commentator. Nick joined Informa in July 2011 as Principal Analyst for TV and Digital Media. Prior to that, he was a Senior Analyst at Forrester Research, focusing on media and content issues for clients globally. Nick joined Forrester through the 2008 acquisition of Jupiter Research, where he led the company’s European media coverage. He previously spent nearly 20 years as a journalist, editor, and executive for a range of media companies, including Associated Press Television News and the UK Press Association. Nick holds a master’s degree in Film and an honors degree in English from the University of East Anglia.
