2023 Hackathon
We're thrilled to share with you that our partner, Zindi, will host an exciting Hackathon on 15 November from 9am to 5pm SA Time.
The theme: "Tutorial: Womxn in Big Data South Africa: Female-Headed Households in South Africa Challenge".
The objective of this challenge is to build a predictive model that accurately estimates the % of households per ward that are female-headed and living below a particular income threshold by using data points that can be collected through other means without an intensive household survey like the census.
This solution can potentially reduce the cost and improve the accuracy of monitoring key population indicators such as female household headship and income level in between census years. The winning solutions will be made publicly available at the end of the competition.
Please fill out the form below to register for the event. Once registered, you will receive a link as well as a password to join the virtual hackathon on 15 November.
Once you have registered for the hackathon, make sure to sign up to Zindi in order to participate - you can do so at https://zindi.africa/signup. *IMPORTANT* the email you provide in this form needs to be the same when you register on Zindi.
